Spring car check everyone! Lets check the brake lines, pads and shoes, not to mention the front ends so we have a safe and maintenance free summer. Destination, Don's place. This wasn't a repair session, just a little check on some of these old cars. Most of our members can build a car but there is a few that need a little assistance in identifying trouble areas. Below, is a picture of the cars parked outside Don's house and second is a pic of Carols stunning Healey in front of a very stately house on Don's street. What a nice photo I thought as I walked by.

At first, the Three Amigos project took centre stage but shortly after everyone arrived, the Three Amigos was rolled outside in the driveway to make way for the task at hand... a safety check. Lee's 79 B was first. Now, as we all know, anything can happen at any time but on Lee's car everything already did happen, and was fixed. The brakes are all as new and the steering was as tight as a drum with many new parts installed. All flex hoses checked out and no gas leaks.. excellent.

Under the hood we checked for dark brake fluid (old) and we took a peek at the radiator overflow. Next we have Jennifer's great looking B. Jennifer being new to the British Car experience, this would be the car to check just to make sure it was safe. Alright what's up here? I pulled the wheel side to side and in and out..... tight as a drum. We took off the wheel and the brakes were new... brand new. I checked the bushings and all had new nuts and cotter pins. OK, someone who knows what they are doing, had spent some time on this car.  I asked Alton who had done the work on the car, the reply was Village Green Motor Car Company in Halifax... Enough said... these guys are experts in British autos and would never let Jennifer's car leave the shop unless it was safe. All that being said. my hat goes off to Alton for getting his hands dirty checking out the cars... Great job.

With the Three Amigos still sitting outside, it's now Julian's turn with his Spitfire that he purchased late last year. This is Julian's first car and he wasn't sure what exactly he was looking at when we pointed a few things out but this didn't stop him from taking the air gun and taking off a wheel, or taking a grease gun and trying to grease up a steering knuckle. Yup, Julian is another one who got his hands dirty. Now, when you own one of these cars, that's the way it is, getting your hands dirty... unless you can afford mechanic rates.

The pictures are one thing and the story is another.  While we were doing our thing in the garage, others were busy cooking up a scoff on the BBQ. This is one of those events where a dinner bell could have been used because there was so many people but with one yell from Sharon, we all ran to the kitchen where, set on the table was a feast to say the least. I was so sorry I didn't take a picture, so take my word for it, there was food all over the place. All one did was walk around the table and pick what you wanted.

So!  huge BCCCB thank you to all who helped make this a great day.

Stay tunes for more great events
