Lets go to the mall! With a BCCCB twist of course. Don arranged a little British car show in the busy halls of the Mayflower mall to bring a little attention to our club and perhaps sniff out an old British car that is tucked away in a barn somewhere. This all started at around nine o'clock at night, like a secret mission, after the mall stores had close, we were escorted into the back doorway to our destination next to the Future Shop. Let me tell you, driving through a mall is quite the experience. The chase scene through the mall from the movie the Blues Brothers kept running through my mind.

The display was set up perfectly I thought. The window was flanked by Mine and Jennifer's B with the very popular Austin Cambridge sitting directly in front of the window. The centre of the display was parked Alan's 68 MGC, Peter and Sandy's 69 E-type and Barc`s 1950 MG TD. On one side of those cars we had Bobby's 79 Midget, Julian's 78 Spitfire, and on the other side there was a very popular 67 Austin Healey owned by Carol Miller and a very handsome looking Triumph TR6 owned by Ray and Georgina MacIassc.

The doors were open early Friday morning and there was a steady flow of lookers. Of course we heard stories like ``I use to have one of them`` or ``my dad had one`` and so many wished they still had them, so really, we brought back many memories of these cars in people's minds, and all the stories were pleasant one's.

I mean really, just looks at these cars, how can they not capture your attention. At any give day when the sun is out, you will see American muscle at it's best but to see an old British Car... well maybe on a warm Sunday.

During our time at the mall we met up with Dave the security guy. Dave the security guy had great stories to tell, he was telling us of the Minis he had and other great British autos. He gave me clippings from the Cape Breton Post of adds placed by Jeff Tanner about his Eurocar dealership in Point Edward many many years ago. It's unbelievable that these adds lasted this long, safely put away buy a great guy who loves the old British cars. It's crazy what these old British cars do to people, those who like them love them a lot... for sure.

The show had come to a successful end on Saturday night and now we had the opportunity to drive back through the mall once again. I believe Julian had posted a video of his car driving thought the mall on YouTube and on the first day of posting, there were over 200 hits on his short film. Below you see Barc proudly navigating through the halls of the now empty mall.

A late addition to this story

The Youtube video I mentioned by Julian wasn't the only video uploaded. Jennifer also aired a Youtube video as well. Check out the following links.

Bobby was next, cruising through with the top down follower closely by Anita in Julian's car. Then Carol and directly behind was Peter in.... shall we say ``the sexy Jag``. Why not! This model Jag was given the title of ``worlds sexiest car``.

Closing out the pack, the rest of us slowly made our way out, perhaps savouring the moment of driving through the mall. Just look how the lighting in the mall reflects off Jennifer's B, man that is shinny paint.

Maybe we started something. More often then not we see new cars on display at a mall but how often would one ever see a display like the BCCCB put on. I am guessing, that in the future you will see other clubs doing the same thing. What a great couple of days for both our club and I am sure for those who came out to have a look at our display. From the comments, they weren't disappointed.

Stay tuned...... What ever could be next.
